Going Green on Campus

Published on Mar 04, 2014

Besides being a creative college campus, Columbia is also one of the greenest! As a finalist in the 2014 Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards, Columbia has embraced sustainability on campus. There are a few events coming up this March to encourage you to join this green effort.

As part of Discarded: The Afterlife of Everyday Electronics, an ongoing exhibition in The Arcade, Columbia is hosting an Electronics Recycling Drive. Drop off old televisions, computers, phones, iPods, gaming systems, and cameras to make sure they’re properly recycled. The full list of eligible items is available online.

An event all month to participate in is Meatless Mondays. The Alliance for a Greener South Loop asks students to do exactly how it sounds—forgo meat on Mondays to promote a healthy, green lifestyle. There’s even a veggie chili cook off March 31st. To get involved, register at greenersouthloop.com.
