Study Abroad This Summer…

If you have a desire to travel while learning about a subject that interests you, maybe you should consider taking part in one of Columbia’s study abroad programs. These programs can take you all over the world!

If you want to go, make sure you start planning early because spaces fill quickly and you’ll have a lot of planning to do!

Photography in Southeast Asia: This three-week course will allow you to experience culture in two of Asia’s top urban centers: Singapore and Saigon, Vietnam. You’ll be able to learn about Vietnam’s rich history, collaborate with students from another country and gain photography experience.

Photography in the Netherlands: In this three-week course in the Netherlands, you can create a portfolio that shows your international exploration. And on the way to the longest running photography school in the Netherlands, the Fotovakschool, you’ll stop in London to visit some iconic galleries!

For both programs, classes run from June 6 – June 27, 2014. If you want to learn more about applying, attend the info session on March 6 or email the photography department!

Marketing Communication in Prague: This course allows students to apply marketing principles in real life situations like working on a marketing strategy project for a Chicago-based ad agency. This course is from May 26 – June 27. To learn more about the class, check it out on Facebook and contact Sandra Kumorowski.

Creative Writing in Prague: For five weeks, students will study the works of writers and artists who lived in one of Europe’s most historic cities! You’ll take field trips and tours to get some inspiration, but you’ll also have plenty of time to write on your own. This class is from June 19 – July 24. To learn more, come to an info session on March 3, March 20, April 9 or April 22 at 624 S. Michigan Ave.

Summer in Florence: This four-week program offers five courses in beautiful Italia! For more information about this program, attend the info session on March 3 at 623 S. Wabash. The program is July 3 – Aug. 1.  If you’d like financial assistance to pay for the program, you can apply for a scholarship by March 3.

Orientation Leaders: If you prefer to stay stateside this summer, you can help incoming students transition to college life and bring home a paycheck to boot. If you’re interested in applying, all applicants are required to attend an info session in March and submit an application by April 2nd.
