Manifest 2016 Creative Director Search

Published on Sep 15, 2015

Think you can design the face of Manifest?  We’re looking for Columbia College Chicago's best talent that can best portray the look and feel of Manifest Urban Arts Festival, Columbia’s end of the year celebration.  Previous winners designs incorporated paper arts, watercolor, typography, graphic design, and mixed media. The winning designer will get exposure, fame, and untold riches. And by that we mean your work will be seen across Chicago and you’ll receive a paid position at Student Communications.

Before you move on, a few things you'll want to consider:

  • Submissions are open to students in ALL academic departments

  • Contestants must be current Columbia students enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate students and a minimum of 9 for graduate students.

  • Contestants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

  • Contestants must submit original art. Do not use copy protected images or elements of another designer's work.

  • Contestants can only submit one design in the competition.

  • The contest winner will be asked to submit additional design concepts to us to help finalize and complete the 2016 Manifest Marketing campaign.

  • All submissions will be reviewed by a committee of students and staff who will select a limited number of designs.

  • The designs will then be released online for the public to vote.

Here's how it works:

To compete, you will submit a single .pdf of your design entry. That .pdf must contain two pages.

  • Page one will be your poster design which will include the following text:

           Manifest Urban Arts Festival
           Friday, May 13, 2016
Manifest wordmark must be set in Arial Black typeface

  • Page two will contain your interpretation on the Manifest star. The Manifest star represents the solar energy which radiates from our Columbia College community, offering sustenance and support to our students and inspiration and to al.

Things to consider:

The Manifest 2016 theme will be ANIMATE.

To animate is to bring to life, motivate, and to help bring lively, vivacious spirit to ourselves and the world around us. At Columbia College Chicago, we bring our art to life by animating ideas to motivate our community to move outside of our comfort zones and into new realms of creativity. Animate your campus, neighborhood, city, and global community. Occupy the world, transform our culture. Be bold and share your passion, animate our community!

Welcome to Manifest 2016, let's get started!
