Call for Artists

The Department of Exhibition and Performance Spaces (DEPS) and ShopColumbia are looking for student artists to showcase their work in galleries on campus. There are a variety of ways to be involved in the exhibitions and events that are produced in our spaces:

Evoke: An Environmental Inspiration
Exhibit Deadline: November 21, 2016
Open to: Columbia Students and alumni
Evoke, Arcade Gallery, February 2 – March 10, 2017 
We live in a time when environmental issues need to be on the forefront of agendas and on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Art inspires recognition, education, and activism within our communities. Through your work we can begin to create a new discourse that pushes environmental issues to the top of the list. Following the major impact the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s  exhibition Petcoke: Tracing Dirty Energy, we look to continue the conversation of environmental injustice through Evoke. Please submit a piece of artwork that will inspire new dialogue or ideas about environmentalism.

C33 Gallery Exhibition Proposals
Deadline: November 22, 2016
Open to: Columbia Students
DEPS offers 2.5 week long exhibitions in the C33 gallery to outstanding students from all disciplines at Columbia College Chicago.  C33 Gallery provides an opportunity for self-produced solo exhibitions or exhibitions featuring multiple artists.

The Arcade Gallery Curatorial Proposals
Deadline: Ongoing
Open to: Columbia Students
Curating exhibitions is a learning experience that provides students the opportunities to develop their curatorial voice through the process of choosing artwork and designing an installation to communicate a vision. It provides a unique perspective into the exhibition planning process. Curating allows students to voice what type of art they would like to see, what issues they would like discussed and what installation designs they would like to explore.

ShopColumbia Retail Store - Opening Spring 2017
Deadline: Ongoing
Open to: Columbia Students, Staff, Faculty and alumni
ShopColumbia is accepting new submissions for consignment from students, staff, faculty and alumni for the reopening of the retail store spring 2017.  Final decisions for consignment will be made by ShopColumbia's review board. The Board is looking for originality, quality craftsmanship and cohesiveness. Students earn 75% of every sale. Alumni, faculty and staff earn 50%.  Click here to apply

ShopColumbia Holiday Market
Deadline: November 4, 2016
Open to: Columbia Students, Staff, Faculty and alumni
ShopColumbia is taking it to the streets this holiday season for our eighth annual Holiday Market!  ShopColumbia will be hosting a series of pop up shops across campus and want to sell YOUR WORK. We are looking for items that make great gifts and are representative of the creative talent of the Columbia College community.
