Asian American Cultural Affairs
Asian American Cultural Affairs is committed to working closely with students, faculty, and staff to advocate for Asian American student interests, concerns, and needs. The office also provides resources for individual empowerment and success; builds community; and creates social, cultural, and educational programming for and about Asian American experiences.
The office works to provide you with a place for exploration of identity issues, opportunities for mentoring, and the development of leadership skills, while supporting your personal and academic achievements.
For us, "Asian American" includes a vast spectrum of ethnic heritages: Southeast Asian, West Asian (Arab or Middle Eastern), South Asian, East Asian, Pacific Islander, Central Asian, Hapa and those who identify as multiracial. We want students to understand that Asia and the Pacific Islands stretch from the Philippines to Palestine, and Mongolia to Hawai'i.
Every year the office collaborates with the Asian Student Organization (ASO) to bring groundbreaking artists to campus; produce Columbia's coolest student-run magazine, Chi Tea; coordinate outings, film screenings, and social events; organize student performance and visual art showcases; and much more! All our events are open to the entire Columbia community. We hope you will join us on this journey of exploration!
