New Student Programs

New Students

Welcome, New Students!

Congratulations on being admitted to the largest arts & media college in the country (and probably the world)! You're soon to join a huge, creative collective of talented students just like you that are what makes our community the eclectic, electric environment that will push you academically, creatively, and professionally to outdo your best and help you grow into the creative professional we're counting on you to be. Welcome to Columbia!

The next few months are sure to be exciting and busy ones for you as you finalize your college plans. We’ve created a number of opportunities to help you stay on track with your planning, get you connected with your fellow classmates (both online and in-person), and let you experience Columbia’s campus on a whole new level.

If you are attending an on-campus Orientation, your day will begin at 1104 S Wabash and from there you will explore our programs and our campus. Please arrive at 12pm if you are attending one of the transfer Orientation days (June 23-26) or 9am if you are attending one of the freshman Orientation days (July 7-10, 13-16, 20-23, 27-30). We look forward to seeing you!

CONFIRM your attendance.

To begin at Columbia you first must tell us your decision to Confirm and pay your $250 confirmation deposit.

RSVP for Orientation.

All new students participate in New Student Orientation. It’s where you will find out more about your major, meet other new students and get ready for your first semester. You need to RSVP to reserve the right date for your major.

CHECK your Loopmail

We’re giving you an official Columbia College Loopmail address. What’s so official about it, you ask? Well, it’s the only email address the College will use to send you information about things like registration, your academic progress, financial aid awards, events on campus and basically just about anything else that relates to Columbia. And, because all of those things are important, you’re going to need to set it up now and check it often.

COMPLETE New Student Registration

You’ll begin the registration process before you get here in an online program loaded with everything you need to know about placement tests, transfer credit and first semester classes. Completing this program will clear you to begin registering from home with help from faculty and staff on campus.

PREPARE For Your Major

Check and then double check that you've built your first-semester schedule with the right classes for your major.
