If you borrowed federal student loans during your time as a student, you must complete Federal Loan Exit Counseling before leaving Columbia in order to receive your diploma. Exit Counseling is an online tutorial, compiled by the Department of Education, which explains your “rights and responsibilities” as a borrower and also covers your repayment options after graduation.

The final U-Pass fee for 2013-2014 has been determined and has increased. The new rate has increased to $130 for the academic year. This rate will remain constant for the entire academic year (2013-2014). The U-Pass is available to all Full-Time undergraduate and graduate students and the associated fee is included in your Full-Time tuition.

In order to register for the upcoming semester, your student account must be in good standing. If a hold is placed on your account, you’ll be notified via Loopmail or by phone. Financial Registration Holds will begin on March 11th.
Two simple steps will help you ensure a financial hold will not be placed on your account:
1.Login to OASIS and select the Student Financial Services tab to view your Student Account Detail. Review your account to make sure all of your aid has been credited, you have completed all missing documents, and all payments have been received.
2. If your aid has been credited and you have no missing documents, yet you still have a balance, visit SFS’s Payer Identity Plans page, and explore all of your payment plan options such as the In-School Payment Agreement.

It is now time for you to move to step 2, which is filing your 2012 taxes electronically with the IRS. The priority deadline for filing your 2012 taxes electronically is February 25th. To learn about tax incentives and free tax preparation services visit our Tax Incentive Information page.
The final step of the 3-step process is to update your FAFSA online with the new IRS Data Retrieval Tool. You can complete this process by March 10th if you have completed the first two steps.

PGA, or Please Generate Art, is a college-wide effort that unities students from all of Columbia’s graduate programs and showcases their work and creativity at Manifest, Columbia’s year-end urban arts festival. All current Columbia graduate students are eligible to submit a proposal to participate in the making of PGA 2012. Designers, performers, musicians, writers, builders, marketers and planners are all encouraged to submit their ideas and their talents.

The 2012 commencement will be a ticketed event. Each graduating student will receive six tickets for family and friends. Among colleges and universities we surveyed, six tickets is a generous per graduate allotment. The online ticket confirmation system will go live in early Spring and physical distribution of tickets will take place in the weeks prior to the ceremony. Graduates must have completed their graduation audit to claim their tickets.

Student Financial Services has once again participated and provided time to the event by creating the Lookin’ Fine on a Dime™ contest in collaboration with the Office of Student Communications. A video is being produced to showcase our three contest finalists and a winner will be announced during the week of April 29th! This video will be submitted to the Money Smart Week website and receive national attention through the site. We thank all contest participants.
