Who Should Headline Manifest 2012?

Written by Stevie Loop

Columbia’s Student Programming Board (SPB) is beginning the search for the band or musical act to headline Manifest 2012. Previous Manifest headliners have included Lupe Fiasco, Detroit Cobras, OK Go and the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir.

Currently SPB is considering Mayer Hawthorne, Walk the Moon, Toro y Moi, Fun and Maps & Atlases. Take a moment to vote and let SPB know your preference. Keep in mind, this is an informal poll to gauge student interest in these acts. There is no guarantee the band who wins the poll will be booked as the Manifest headliner, as availability and cost have a lot to do with who SPB will be able to book.

If you are a Columbia student, and have other suggestions, leave a comment below.

Mayer Hawthorne

Walk the Moon

Toro Y Moi

Fun (the band)

Maps and Atlases

Walk the Moon (will make everyone fall in love). Yelawolf would also make an awesome headliner – my suggestion for next year.

Maps and Atlases. They’re Columbia grads and one of the most talented groups around. Should be an easy choice.

J.Cole! A college graduate he raps about student issues and matters that all college kids can relate to.Plus he is new and should be pretty cheap to get.

    Kendrick Lamar
Fresh new talent that has worked with Drake,Jay Z Dr Dre.Should be pretty cheap to get.

Take a listen to these guys music to see if they’ll fit what your trying to do.
    I wouldn’t mind seeing

    Adele

    Maroon 5

    Or

We can Chicago it up with home grown artist

    Common
    Jennifer Hudson
    Kanye West
    Donnell Jones
    Carl Thomas
    Jeremih
    Fall Out Boy
    R.Kelly

We spend enough money here to get someone worth talking about. Thanks for letting us voice our opinion

originally i was kinda disappointment by the options up there. i’ve seen mayor hawthorn before, he’s okay but not exciting. columbia has already called upon maps and atlases before three years ago. walk the moon sounded pretty cool, but then i realized that Fun was a reformation of The Format, a band that i actually love so LETS HAVE FUN.

I’m not familiar with fun – going to check them out when I get home. I can vouch for Toro y Moi, they were great live, and actually Walk the Moon is really engaging. I saw them open for Local Natives at their aftershow this year and they walked through the crowd painting faces (I had no idea who they were at the time).
