Columbia’s Student Programming Board (SPB) is beginning the search for the band or musical act to headline Manifest 2012. Previous Manifest headliners have included Lupe Fiasco, Detroit Cobras, OK Go and the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir.
Currently SPB is considering Mayer Hawthorne, Walk the Moon, Toro y Moi, Fun and Maps & Atlases. Take a moment to vote and let SPB know your preference. Keep in mind, this is an informal poll to gauge student interest in these acts. There is no guarantee the band who wins the poll will be booked as the Manifest headliner, as availability and cost have a lot to do with who SPB will be able to book.
If you are a Columbia student, and have other suggestions, leave a comment below.
Walk the Moon (will make everyone fall in love). Yelawolf would also make an awesome headliner – my suggestion for next year.
What about Kendrick Lamar?
How about the Hoyle Brothers:

Chicago band, they’ve been a SXSW, great music to dance to, tons of fun.
Maps and Atlases. They’re Columbia grads and one of the most talented groups around. Should be an easy choice.
PHOENIX!
GIRL TALK. or The Raveonettes
All the artists that worked collectively on the Pokemon hit album 2B A Master
How about Say Anything or Matt and Kim!
just imagine how funkadelic manifest would be with toro y moi….. just think about it
I think Maps & Atlases should because they are freaking fantastic and they are columbia peeps as well!
J.Cole! A college graduate he raps about student issues and matters that all college kids can relate to.Plus he is new and should be pretty cheap to get.
Kendrick Lamar
Fresh new talent that has worked with Drake,Jay Z Dr Dre.Should be pretty cheap to get.
Take a listen to these guys music to see if they’ll fit what your trying to do.
I wouldn’t mind seeing
Adele
Maroon 5
Or
We can Chicago it up with home grown artist
Common
Jennifer Hudson
Kanye West
Donnell Jones
Carl Thomas
Jeremih
Fall Out Boy
R.Kelly
We spend enough money here to get someone worth talking about. Thanks for letting us voice our opinion
from the choices that are given: walk the moon, fun., and map & atlases.
but i think some circle pits and moshing could do columbia some good… too soon?
I think we should have either LMFAO, Gym Class Heroes, J Cole or Frank Ocean.
fun. sucks hard
Big KRIT should headline! i would be be soooo happy! please!
Kid CuDi should headline
Kid Sister. She’s a columbia grad and totally kick ass.
Rihannaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
fun!
FUN!! or Maps & Atlases
How about Corbin Bleu? I could make it happen. I bet he’d come perform. We all grew up to High School Musical so I think that would be fun!!
I saw Walk the Moon at CMJ, they were pretty rad live, I don’t listen to their music a lot on a day to day basis but I had such a blast at their concert
TORO Y MOI.
SERIOUSLY EVERYONE?! Fun. is terrible.
This is an art school and the most bro’ed-out shitty band is winning the poll, it’s just sad.
vampire weekend!!
Murder by Death should headline!!! I’ve seen them five times and they never disappoint!
Vampire Weekend!
I dont know any of these artists. Not sayin there not good, just not that popular.
Mayer Hawthorne.
Mayer Hawthorne
Company of Theives!
Can we throw some hip-hop or R&B in there please I mean we are a diverse school aren’t we???? Well were is the diversity????? LIke Chris Brown, Young Money, Wale, J. Cole, Frank Ocean…Somebody!!!!
Fun.!
Columbia College’s mascot, Lady Gaga.
No female fronted bands or female singer/songwriters?
FUN is so amazing. No one else on this list even comes close to being as good as Fun.
how about alkaline trio? chicago band for a chicago school?
Mayer Hawthorne.
Toro y Moi!
originally i was kinda disappointment by the options up there. i’ve seen mayor hawthorn before, he’s okay but not exciting. columbia has already called upon maps and atlases before three years ago. walk the moon sounded pretty cool, but then i realized that Fun was a reformation of The Format, a band that i actually love so LETS HAVE FUN.
what about somebody different like Trina
smith westerns or purity ring duh
oh or purity ring they rock
smith westerns duh
MAYER HAWTHORNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Bad Rabbits. They’re a funk rock band from Boston. They are very fun and VERY good live. It’s music that’s fun to listen to and fun to dance to/
Can we pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee gets some beats in the mix this year?? Get Jeremiah Jae he’s a local. WE NEED SOME BEATS. Anything Brainfeeder
I’m not familiar with fun – going to check them out when I get home. I can vouch for Toro y Moi, they were great live, and actually Walk the Moon is really engaging. I saw them open for Local Natives at their aftershow this year and they walked through the crowd painting faces (I had no idea who they were at the time).
Well. How about a former Columbia student. Perhaps Matthew Santos?
Russian Circles, a post rock band from Chicago that has potentially the best musicianship in a band.
Company of Thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dan Deacon
Maps & Atlases, or Fun. Fun is awesome.
I’d rather see an older musician than any of these bands – someone like Patti Smith or Johnny Winter
How about Young the Giant?
I agree with Dylan Holfus, Toro Y Moi is definitely the best artist to perform at Columbia College Chicago. He is an amazing musician, performer, and artist overall.
I definitely can say that Toro y Moi would be a stimulating artist well representable by the majority of the Columbia students and in particularly all the hipsters.
I do not think the current options represent all of columbia’s taste in music. I feel a big time artist could do columbia some good.
Yes! I’m so glad you’re finally bringing back the headliner band this year!
Fitz and the Tantrums. They would absolutely killlll it here. and they love chicago. FUN would be great as well
Phish or Buddy Guy.
The Wonder Years
Dillon Francis.
Mayor Hawthorne or Maps & Atlases
fun. please fun.
FUN. seriously, Fun.
Death From Above 1979
Future Rock would be the best headliner. + they’re from Chicago!
