Tucked snugly into the 3rd floor of the 916 S. Wabash St. building, is a department you may not have heard of, but you certainly come into contact with weekly: Student Communications. Whether it’s getting the newsletter in your inbox, finding out about events and resources online, or going to a gallery show, you are hearing from Student Communications. How does one guy, Stevie Loop, do it all?
Short answer: He doesn’t.
Student Communications is a team of full-time staff and students, who are passionate about video, writing, web development and graphic design. “We produce newsletters, posters and videos as part of our everyday work, ” said Nissan Wasfie, director of Student Communications. “Now, we are looking to go to the next level of communication, and we want students to be a part of that.”
Next semester, Student Communications is offering to be a resource for student groups. Making a poster? Putting together a promo video for your group? Student Communications staff can provide help with video, writing, editing, design and web development. Stay tuned to the Loop for updates.
As a writer for Student Communications for the past two years, I have had the privilege of getting to cover some really interesting events at Columbia. Walking into the office feels a lot like home. I am graduating this semester and am thankful to have had the pleasure of working in this office with many talented people.
Next semester, you will be able to stop by Student Communications and get help from this talented team for your student group. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get to meet Stevie Loop?
