The Portfolio Center works as a bridge between Columbia’s academic community and the professional creative industries, hosting a number of different programs and events for professionals and employers to meet and engage with our students to review their work and exchange career information.
Organizing recruiting events, on-campus visits, class presentations, info sessions, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, and off-site field trips to local creative organizations and partners are just a few of the ways that we put creative professionals directly in touch with emerging talent at Columbia. Career & Job Fairs
Welcomes industry partners and employers to campus with opportunities corresponding to Columbia College academic majors and programs to recruit for full-time and part-time openings and internships. This is a career-focused, one-day, recruiting event that invites creative industry employers to present positions that directly relate to the professional careers of students, graduates and alumni. Invites the neighborhood and Chicagoland businesses to campus offering paid part-time and full-time jobs that may help students support themselves while continuing their education at Columbia College. This is a one-day, tabled event and a great opportunity to introduce your company or business, collect applications, and share information about work and opportunities students may take advantage of locally. Virtual Job Fair
Online alternative offering employers, companies, organizations and businesses an option to recruit students. Reach out to candidates virtually in between and during semester breaks with full-time, part-time, freelance, internship, and volunteer opportunities. Date(s) are TBA.
Here to Hire
Here to Hire events invite employers and industry partners to campus to recruit current Columbia College students for careers analogous to their academic majors and program of study. These regularly scheduled “pop-up career fairs” take place throughout the year and are designed to give employers a chance to deliver presentations and provide info sessions so students may get to know them a little bit better. HTH visits also offer some one-on-one time for employers and potential candidates to talk about present opportunities and see if it’s a match.
Formerly known as the series “Industry Events”, Portfolio Day invites creative industry professionals to campus for a one-day event to meet with grads and graduating seniors, and provide feedback on their best work and portfolios. This is a curated event divided into morning, afternoon, and evening sessions organized by academic majors and industry hubs. Portfolio Day 2015 takes place April 30, 2015.
