Leadership Institute

+ Mission Statement

The Leadership Institute offers students an opportunity to creatively practice leadership skills in the areas of arts, communications and culture in order to leverage the full value of contemporary urban education. This program is designed to foster imagination by way of leadership development and enhance the students' ability to pave a path to personal and professional success. The vitality of this program emerges from the workshops, and self-reflection, all of which serve as catalysts in developing Columbia student leaders.

+ The Inspire. Integrate. Motivate. (I.I.M.) Leadership Conference 2016 Recap

The I.I.M Leadership Institute Conference was a huge success! Over 80 students, alumni, staff and faculty members attended our first conference of this kind aimed at equipping our students with valuable leadership skills like career building, storytelling, decision making, life balance and more. Many thanks goes to our Keynote Speaker, Anthony Sturdivant, Founder and President of "Think Before You Shoot."

Here's a glimpse of participant feedback:

"The workshops were really helpful, and I liked getting to choose which one [workshop] I wanted"

"All of the presenters I saw had fun, interactive, and very informative workshops that really helped me think about my leadership skills and style"

"I really enjoyed the fact that it was on a Saturday. I was a little worried that I would feel like an extra day of classes but it was actually a great way to start the day and I loved how empty the building was so it felt like it was a really exclusive event!"
