Handshake Policies and Guidelines
At Columbia College Chicago, our mission is to provide education in the arts, communications, design, and media fields within the context of an enlightened liberal arts education. The Career Center at Columbia College Chicago is partnered with Handshake, a network of over 1,100 colleges and universities nationwide, to offer an online platform that supports students and alumni who are searching for internships and employment opportunities. Employers who are interested in hiring our students and alumni may create free accounts and post their opportunities pending approval from our Career Center staff.
Employers are expected to read and adhere to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Ethical Professional Practice, Columbia policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local employment laws. Additionally, Employers are encouraged to read Columbia’s Employer’s Guide to Internships and Best Practices. Failure to abide by these standards and guidelines may result in discontinuation of access to Handshake.
Student Confidentiality
Employment professionals must maintain the confidentiality of all student information released to them, regardless of the source, including personal documents, written records/reports, and computer databases.Posting Requirements
