MFA Photography Exhibition 2014

May 6 - May 17, 2014

Three years ago six photographers embarked on a journey together to complete the Columbia College Chicago MFA program in photography. Although they likely chose Columbia for disparate reasons, the one thing they agree upon is that it is the people - professors, artists, colleagues, curators and art historians - that have guided them on their path and transformed their work. Speaking about the effect of these relationships on her development, one of the artists said, “These conversations helped make us become more fully ourselves.” It is this clarity of vision that a student seeks when entering an MFA program and that Columbia College Chicago has been so successful with so many speaks to the strength of its faculty and staff and the commitment of the students who choose to study here. This exhibition is the culmination of their shared experience, the last before they take that leap towards artistic independence.
