Student Diversity and InclusionStudent Diversity and Inclusion (SDI) mission is to expand visibility and explore diversity while bringing students together from all races, places, backgrounds and identities to serve Columbia’s incredibly talented student population. Serving students in a warm, welcoming and resource rich environment, SDI seeks to foster an environment to develop student’s intellectual, social, and cultural development of all students through three areas of focus:
- Support for Academic Success – SDI staff develop programs and services that encourage students to utilize the support offerings on campus including mentorship programs, workshops, seminars, and lectures that contribute to the development of the whole student while fostering community.
- Cultural Celebrations – Cultural celebrations offered throughout the year that have a focus on themes that are germane to the curriculum, such as film, photo and music.
- Workshops and Seminars – Educational programs that explore relevant topics of diversity and inclusion that students and our country may be grappling with.
- SDI is home to our Latino, African American, Asian, Asian American, Pacific Island, LGBTQIA, International student organizations, Student Veteran Association, as well as Columbia’s faith groups.
