Transfer Credit Evaluation

Your transfer credit evaluation is performed by degree evaluators in the Office of the Registrar. We conduct official evaluations based on official transcripts sent to Columbia. We also offer unofficial credit evaluations for students who have not applied yet to Columbia from schools not listed on transferology.com.

Transfer Credit Policy

Columbia has a generous transfer credit policy, which is posted in our course catalog. Students who transfer to Columbia can determine how the courses they have taken will fulfill either Columbia's Liberal Arts and Sciences requirements or, in some cases, courses in their chosen major.

The school you transfer from must be regionally accredited. In some cases, we may consider credit from an institution with national accreditation.

Credit Toward Major
The office of the registrar works closely with faculty in the academic departments to determine if any of your transfer credit can be applied towards your major. Due to processing time, we may send you a second official transfer credit evaluation with updated info on which credits are being applied towards your major as determinations are being made.
