The Department of Exhibitions, Performance and Student Spaces is pleased to announce its C33 Gallery Spring student exhibitions:
February 19 - March 5, 2015
Phaedra Call
Opening Reception: February, 4-6pm
It Was The Future considers the female athlete as cultural icon through video, performance and photography. Through documented performance and photographic collage, Call suggests a hypothetical autobiography of herself as a member of the US Women's National Soccer Team grieving the loss of a World Cup match while in reality she is an artist grieving the loss of her own athletic aspirations.
March 12 - March 27, 2015
Zachary Hyman
Opening Reception: March 12, 4-6pm
MucousTech is a figurative technology company. With a focus on textures and viscosity, MucousTech responsibly explores human fluidity through a physical and technological hybridization. In this way MucousTech is intended to serve as the realization of a self-portrait.
April 2 - April 17. 2015
BJ Allen
Opening Reception: April 2, 4-6pm
BJ Allen’s work uses ambient sound, abstract video, and sculptural objects to portray a unique emotional and philosophical journey grounded in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago. Edgewater Oriented Ontology consists of two site-specific installations and several works that use new technologies to bring to light rich layers of meaning found in one’s immediate surroundings. Inspired by the fluid definitions observed in Object Oriented Ontology, Allen relates disparate concepts such as grief, refuge, physics, color, transparency, and technology to form a colorful, meditative whole. BJ Allen's work is supported by the Albert P. Weisman Award at Columbia College Chicago.

C33 Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting student exhibitions from all of Columbia College Chicago's academic departments. As the only open submission exhibition space where students can exhibit their own work, C33 Gallery offers a venue for students to push their creative practices while giving them valuable exhibition experience. Selected exhibitions receive support from gallery staff, multiple resources and a stipend for material expenses and reception costs.
Submissions for the gallery are accepted each semester for the following semester. We are currently accepting proposals for Fall 2015 and Spring 2016
