Battling the Birth: Black Images On Screen
Exhibition Dates: February 9 - March 19, 2004
In conjunction with Black Heritage Month, Glass Curtain Gallery is proud to present this exhibition, curated by Columbia College Chicago alumnus Rashid Johnson. Using the still-controversial 1915 film Birth of a Nation as a focal point, Battling the Birth: Black Images on Screen explores the complex issues of racism, identity, media propaganda and the power of aesthetics through the pervasive lens of film and television.
