The Arcade takes its name from the building’s previous incarnation when it was known as The Arcade Building. With sweeping views of Grant Park, the gallery hosted a wide range of exhibitions from all media, with a particular focus on providing professional exhibitions by scholarship recipients. Annual exhibitions were created in partnership with the Stuart Abelson Award, an annual travel grant administered by the Photography Department, and the Pougialis Fine Art Award presented by the Art & Art History Department, among others.
