The New MyColumbia
The college is excited to introduce the new and improved MyColumbia student portal. The new portal brings together multiple student actions like class registration, reviewing and accepting financial aid awards, and other self-service tools and quick links to campus resources.
As we work to integrate the portal, you will see improvements throughout the summer and Academic Year 2025-26. In the Spring 2025 semester we successfully launched components of Self-Service in the new MyColumbia. Self-Service in the new system refers to transactions in the system like registering for classes, as well as reviewing your account summary and financial aid. See below for more details on the SELF-SERVICE features which you can access at selfservice.colum.edu.
In the Summer of 2025, the College will implement and launch other features in Self-Service, like the Degre Audit and degree planning. We are also looking to introduce the New My Columbia which will include important links to resources on campus. This new dashboard will improve your Columbia Experience by centralizing key resources and functions! Stay tuned for more updates and read below under NEW MYCOLUMBIA FEATURES.
You will still access the site at my.colum.edu and through a new mobile app.
See below for FAQs and click on the menu above ⬆ for timeline and videos showing you the streamlined look and features of the new portal. If you have additional questions or comments, please submit them at this link.
NAVIGATING THE NEW MYCOLUMBIA
- SELF-SERVICE: How do I select courses in the new system?
- Navigate to my.colum.edu > my registrations > Fall 2025 Registrations, which will take you to the new portal. You can also access Self Service directly at https://selfservice.colum.edu.
- Go to Course Catalogue
- Use the Advanced Search to filter courses by program, days of the week, times, etc… or you can search for a specific course number in the top right “Search for Courses”

- ALWAYS select the Fall 2025 Filter in every search! If the Fall 2025 Filter is NOT selected, you may be pulling up courses that are not on the schedule for Fall 2025. Bonus: You can also filter by Open Sections Only!

- SELF-SERVICE: How do I ADD courses to my Plan and Schedule?
- Think of the Plan as your “ Save for Later,” while the Schedule is your actual “ Shopping Cart” for Registering. You can Plan then Schedule, or go straight to Scheduling
- To add courses into your Plan, select Add Course to Plan (In this screenshot, open sections has been selected.

- Then make sure to select Fall 2025 as your term and Add to Your Plan

- The course will now appear in your Plan along the left-hand side. Selecting View Other Sections will allow you to see them laid out on your Schedule and choose one that works with your other courses.

Alternately, you can hit View Available Sections from the Search Results and directly add a section directly to your Schedule if you know the time works for you!

- SELF-SERVICE: How do I read the Seat Capacities for courses?
- The Seat Capacities for each section are listed as Available/Taken/Capacity/Waitlisted
- Available = seats left / Taken = currently in class / Capacity = room capacity / Waitlisted = number on waitlist. Adding to the waitlist puts you at the bottom.
- SELF-SERVICE: How do Waitlists work in the new system?
- Waitlist spots are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If a seat opens up and you're next, you'll get an email and have 48 hours to accept.
- If the waitlisted course conflicts with another on your schedule, drop the conflicting course first, then accept the waitlist offer (within 48 hours).
- SELF-SERVICE: If I have a hold, what should I do?
- If you have a hold, contact the correct office to get it resolved.
- While waiting, explore the course catalog and plan your schedule in the new registration system so you’re ready to register once your hold is lifted.
- NEW MYCOLUMBIA FEATURES: What is the timeline for the New MyColumbia?
- Over Summer 2025, all aspects of my.colum.edu will fully transition to the New MyColumbia interface. The URL (my.colum.edu) will remain the same, but the old portal will be replaced by a new, user-friendly interface.
- Finally, starting Fall 2025, a standalone mobile app for students will be released as another way to access the New MyColumbia.
- NEW MYCOLUMBIA FEATURES: What will the Degree Audit look like on the New MyColumbia?
- Until the new degree audit feature it ready in August, 2025, you can refer to the old degree audit system, uAchieve, to plan your classes. uAchieve will still be available on my.colum.edu.
- Fall 2025: The new Degree Audit will become available when Fall semester begins and will allow you to build a four-year plan of both specific courses they want to take and general Core categories (to fulfill the 30 credit Core requirement). You will then use the Degree Audit to plan all of your semesters, while still being able to edit the plan during the registration window based on your preferences, specific section choices, and/or availabilities.
- The new Degree Audit will give Schools and programs better insight into student demand for courses, giving us an opportunity to plan ahead and better align our course offerings with forecasted student needs.
- NEW MYCOLUMBIA FEATURES: What additional features and improvements are coming during Fall 2025?
- Increased self-service functionality for students (new features will be added throughout Summer and Fall 2025).
- Enhanced user interface (UI) that is mobile-friendly through an App (available during Fall 2025).
- Streamlined student registration and degree planning. The Degree Audit tool will be available within the New MyColumbia and replace uAchieve during the Fall 2025 semester.
- Enhanced data security.
- Where do I go to get help with registration?
- Where can I find program guides and four-year degree plans for my major?
- If you are a continuing student who started with the college before Fall 2025, you can find historical degree programs at https://catalog.colum.edu
- The new program requirements for new students at the college (those starting for the first time in Fall 2025-26) will officially be available in May in the new Degree Audit in August, but you may preview them here.
- Continuing Students will NOT be required to change to the new program array and requirements. However if you feel the new programs would be advantageous for you, please speak with an advisor or someone in your School about the options available in the preview of new program and they will help you select classes for Fall 2025 that align with the new programs.
- Fall 2025: Starting this fall, the new four-year degree plans will be available in a new degree-planning feature called Academic Planner in the New MyColumbia. This feature is currently still in development.
- What is my official ID #?
- NEW STUDENTS starting with the college in Fall 2025 will only have one ID # that was given to them upon admission and will receive their Campus Card IDs this summer, at Orientation.
- CONTINUING STUDENTS will continue to use their existing Campus Card IDs, which currently have their old ID# on them and they have also been issued a new ID# within the Self Service and New MyColumbia system.
At this time you do not need a new ID card. Your old ID card and old ID number will be tagged to the new Columbia ID for now.
