Access Excess

Exhibition Dates: March 1 - April 23, 2010

Access Excess is an exhibition exploring the environment of an ephemeral event - a live musical performance - through the lens of visual artists. While the focal point of a concert is the performers, a plethora of visual elements are involved in creating and enhancing the experience. Artists such as graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and many others are all crucial in creating this environment from the designs on the merchandise to the promotions for the event. The visual elements that often fade into the background- band t-shirts, posters, album art, post-event photos, fashion, advertisements and fliers - are now the focus, giving viewers access to the excess.
