Invisible

February 26 - April 25, 2015

Reception: February 26, 5-8pm

Invisible explores the extreme edge of legibility in works by Chicago artists.  While many of the works in Invisible are large in scale, the scope of work will only gradually emerge as visitors make their way through installations of sculpture, painting, video and drawing.  The exhibition explores the visual delight and intellectual intrigue we find in the discovery of works that are both material and conceptual.

Artists include: Paola Cabal, C. C. Ann Chen, Jessica Hyatt, Luftwerk and Kathleen McCarthy

Curated by: Annie Morse

Exhibition programming:

Thursday, March 12, 5:30pm:  Gallery talk with artists Kathleen McCarthy, Paola Cabal, C. C. Ann Chen and curator Annie Morse.

Saturday, March 28, 2 pm: “Vegetation Invocation: A Theater of Salad”, the inaugural collaboration of artists Jessica Hyatt and Sayward Schoonmaker, is a multidisciplinary performance combining puppetry, dispersion, and speaking sing-song. It is a call to believe in the spaces outside our bodies that connect to the interior mind heart space of those we think upon.  In service of alive and pickled plants, alive and pickled words, strings perform on a marionette of vegetation in various stages of sentient animation. And confetti. Lettuce pray.

Thursday April 16, 4 pm: "Magic of nothing, nothing at all. Yet all that is you see." Jessica Hyatt.

Thursday, April 16, 5:30pm: The Department of Audio Arts & Acoustics at Columbia College Chicago presents a showcase of sonic works by students of the Master Class in Sound Art.

Saturday April 18 at 2pm: Luftwerk discusses color and perception.

Thursday, April 23, 5-7pm:
Embrace the Invisible closing party and catalog release.
