• Office 365 for students (student email and office applications)

  Below are the instructions on how to access your Office 365 email.

  To access Office 365, students will sign in at https://portal.office.com.

  Please note: If you were an incoming student as of Spring 2022 you will login using your lastname(00)@colum.edu. If you were a student prior to Spring 2022 you will login using your MyColumbiaID@colum.edu.

  Example: 
  
  Username: MyColumbiaID@colum.edu or Lastname(00)@colum.edu 
  
  Password: Office 365 Password

  For students prior to Spring 2022: Even though you log into email using your MyColumbiaID@colum.edu this is not your email address. Your email address uses the following format: FirstInitialLastName@colum.edu. If you have a preferred first name, then your email will begin with that first initial of that name. To locate your email address, log in to Office 365 and open the Outlook application, go to My Account and select Personal Info; your email address will be displayed under Contact Details.

  You can access all the Office applications within a web browser from here as well. (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud, &, etc.) You can also store, share, and collaborate on documents with fellow students and instructors with OneDrive.

  If you’re interested in learning more about Office 365 overall, there are a variety of video tutorials available on LinkedIn Learning (Formerly known as Lynda.com). Just log in to Office 365 Cloud and click LinkedIn Learning link in the applications menu to get started. 

   

• How do I access MyColumbia?
  • MyColumbia is the online tool that faculty members use to post final grades, check their teaching schedules, and submit various academic forms. Students use MyColumbia to register for classes, pay tuition and fees, check academic progress, and update their official address and contact information, as well as their emergency contact information. Students sign in to MyColumbia with the same login information used to access Office 365.

• How do I access Canvas?
  • Canvas is the LMS used by Columbia faculty to manage their courses and it allows students to access course materials, such as course syllabi, assignments, resources, grades, and other materials. The college’s Canvas website is located at canvas.colum.edu.

  Students sign in to Canvas with their Office 365 credentials.

  Please note: If you were an incoming student as of Spring 2022 you will login using your lastname(00)@colum.edu. If you were a student prior to Spring 2022 you will login using your MyColumbiaID@colum.edu.

  There is also 24/7 support available through the Canvas website. Users must sign-in and refer to the help icon on the Canvas home page to reach a Canvas representative through chat or phone support.

• How do I access campus wi-fi?
  • "Columbia Student" is the wireless network dedicated to students. This network is accessed using the same credentials to access Office 365.

  Once you select the "Columbia Student" network from your list of available wireless networks, a browser window will pop up asking you to log into the network with your Office 365 credentials. If a window does not automatically pop up, open a web browser and attempt to access the portal, and you will be re-directed to the log-in page.
