Columbia College Chicago encourages everyone to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day by serving their community.

Even though the spring semester has not yet begun for the Columbia College Chicago community, there are still ways to make an impact on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On Jan. 15, we commemorate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., a remarkable African American activist who brought about notable change in our society. As a Baptist minister and social activist, Dr. King played a significant role in leading the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. He worked tirelessly to transform the country in countless ways, leaving behind a powerful legacy that continues to inspire us today.

As we reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.’s work as an activist, we encourage everyone to spend MLK Day serving their communities. This list is just a few of the exciting events in Chicago and its suburbs that honor his great legacy.
