Art Works
November 15 - December 15, 2012
Reception: December 15, 5-8pm
Spanning disciplines, mediums, and aesthetics, Art Works presents a window into the creative diversity of the Columbia College community of artists – undergraduates, graduates, and alumni. Organized by gallery management students, promoted by entertainment marketing students, and presented in collaboration with ShopColumbia, Art Works offers visitors the opportunity to purchase work by emerging talent and to support young artists.
Utilizing a variety of materials, from fabrics and latex to found objects and wood, the work of Pilar Amado, Hanna Anderton, Erin Cramer, Kady Dennell & Jillian Barthold, and Debra Kayes explores the three-dimensional world. While the two-dimensional world of printmaking and illustration are represented in the work of Mercedes Armstrong, Brianna Baurichter, Cristian Garcia, Erik Lundquist, Melody Snyder, and StudioChris, the subjects range from Chicago neighborhoods to imaginary creatures. Nick Albertson, Marisa DeMarini, Kaspar, and CJ Richter demonstrate a variety of photographic techniques. Handmade paper and textiles are used in inspiring ways in the work of Jillian Bruschera and Corina Cowles. Rounding out this multi-disciplinary group is the work of interactive media artist Blair Kuhlman and of fashion designer Lindsey Kate.
Art Works is a collaboration of students, faculty, and staff from across Columbia College. To find out more about the artists and the exhibition, visit hokinartworks.blogspot.com.
