Something Important - Short Films by Chinese Filmmakers in North America

Opening Reception and Screening: Thursday, October 23, 5:00 – 8:00pm
Something Important features short films by Chinese filmmakers who are either currently enrolled in or recent graduates of filmmaking programs within North America. The films presented offer the viewer an opportunity to explore storytelling with a multi-cultural perspective. Using various genres such as drama, animation, crime, horror and science fiction, the filmmakers in Something Important hope to tell stories that can transcend cultural boundaries in order to relate to an international audience.
The filmmakers of Something Important have overcome many challenges in order to pursue their dreams. Their consistent efforts and outstanding talent have taken them to major international film festivals such as The Student Academy Awards, Sundance Film Festival and The Asian American International Film Festival. Their work and accomplishments represent the rapidly rising Chinese film industry.

影片展映：10月23日，下午6-8点，Stage Two, 紧邻The Arcade画廊。
这次展映是“惊谜影视”主办的北美短片巡展一站。芝加哥站即将展映七部精选短片，展映短片分别来自以下电影人：王天尉，王早，程腾，刘德任，周全以及周润泽。
“一件重要的事“展出了在北美学习电影的华人导演短片作品。这些电影人结合对东西方文化的理解，用跨文化的全新视角带领观众探索电影世界 。他们挑战制作不同类型的电影，致力于用电影语言讲述跨越种族、领土和国界的故事。
参加展出的青年电影人们无一不在在追梦的路上遇见重重坎坷，但他们凭借与众不同的才华和坚持不屑的努力脱颖而出，他们的作品受到了各大国际电影节甚至学生奥斯卡的青睐。相信，在不久的将来，他们会成为迅速崛起的中国电影产业的中坚力量。
