Under Illinois law, you are entitled to free medical help which includes: a medical exam and rape kit if requested (evidence may be collected up to 10-14 days after assault), medications which will assist in preventing infections or STIs (must be taken within 72 hrs.), Plan B contraception and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis to prevent HIV/AIDS (must be taken within 72 hrs.).
