Pieces, 2024 Manifest BA Fine Arts Exhibition

May 10-31, 2024
Reception: Friday, May 10, 5–7 p.m

A group exhibit named after individual parts, broken off bits of something larger or loose unassembled stuff to describe the art by the sixteen Columbia College students earning their Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts degree might seem too on the nose. But the title which suggests the whole being greater than the sum of its parts is also tongue-in-cheek, inspired by an art history professor at Columbia College declaring that according to the Fluxus movement, only a work of performing and not visual art can be called a “piece”. So how fitting then that these young artists took umbrage, gladly accepting the challenge to see how the pieces of this puzzle come together.

Participating Artists: Randi Alvarado, Reese Baker, Brianna Brooks, Brittany Cortes, Rachelle Damasco, danii, Juan Herrera Salcedo, Jasmine Celestina Monarrez, Guthrie Paulson, Abigail Pruitt, Lilo J. Ramos, Emma Rout, Enrique Sanchez and Mimi Thran

Pieces, 2024 Manifest BA Fine Arts Exhibition is presented in conjunction with the Department of Exhibitions, Performance, and Student Spaces (DEPS) and the Art|Design Department, and Larry Lee, Adjunct Professor of Instruction at Columbia College Chicago.
