Aggro Body/Quiet Trace

Aggro Body/Quiet Trace

June 11 - Oct 5, 2018
Reception: Sept 13, 4-6 pm

This exhibition features the work of 2017 Pougialis Award winners Kate Anderson and Kyra Peterson.

Kate Anderson, a graduate of Columbia College Chicago’s Fine Art program, evaluates how time is marked, spent, and recorded through integrating process- based mark-making into her work. In this body of work, Anderson encourages viewers to consider the act of making as a ritual-oriented experience conceivably challenging the value of time.

As a recent graduate of Columbia College Chicago’s Interdisciplinary Arts program, Kyra Peterson focuses on explorative improvisational practice bringing elements of fine art to the body and body to fine art. Peterson stimulates visual dialogue around how everyday forms are perceived.

The Pougialis Fine Art award is a yearly competition, sponsored by the Art & Art History Department, that offers promising fine art students at Columbia College Chicago an opportunity to study as an apprentice with an established artist of national and international standing for one semester, a cash award, and a two- person exhibition.
