Spatial Interaction: Defined, Abena Motaboli and Ty Wubbenhorst

June 8 - September 29, 2017
Opening reception, Friday, September 15, 5-9pm

DEPS is pleased to feature the work of 2016 Pougialis Award winners Abena Motaboli and Ty Wubbenhorst. The Pougialis Fine Art award is a yearly competition that offers promising fine art students at Columbia College Chicago an opportunity to study as an apprentice with an established artist of national and international standing for one semester, a cash award, and a two-person exhibition.

The exhibition weaves explorations of presence, place, and memory through process-based material investigations. Sharing an interest in residual artifacts of the ephemeral, the artists situate their work as sites of poetic meaning making. Throughout the duration of the show, open collaboration, discussion, and experimentation will take place, blurring the contexts of gallery and studio.

This exhibition is sponsored by the Art and Art History Department of Columbia College Chicago
