The New MyColumbia – Launching for Fall registration this Spring!
The college is excited to introduce the new and improved MyColumbia student portal. The new portal brings together multiple student actions like class registration, reviewing and accepting financial aid awards, and other self-service tools and quick links to campus resources.
As we work to integrate the portal, you will be using both the old and new system for various tasks this spring, with full implementation expected next fall semester. In just a few weeks, you will get to experience enhancements like a user-friendly dashboard and mobile device capabilities. You will still access the site at my.colum.edu and through a new mobile app.
See below for FAQs and click on the menu above ⬆️ for videos showing you the streamlined look and features of the new portal (videos coming in early April!) If you have additional questions or comments, please submit them at this link .
- How should I prepare for Fall 2025 registration?
- Prepare: use the existing Degree Audit (uAchieve) and/or a conversation with your advisor to plan what courses you need. Make sure you don’t have any active holds (my.colum.edu, MyAcademics tab).
- Plan: Around the week of April 21, use my.colum.edu to access the new Self-Service Portal for the New MyColumbia, where you can choose specific classes and build a schedule.
- Register: During your specified registration time slot the week of April 28, go back to my.colum.edu to access the new Self-Service Portal for the New MyColumbia, and when your time arrives, click “register now.”
- Where do I go to get help with registration?
- In the weeks leading up to registration (April 14-25), we will be hosting Get Ready to Register Help Desks in the lobbies of most academic buildings. You can ask general questions at those desks as well as complete a Get Ready to Register worksheet and be entered into a raffle for one of five $500 Scholarships!
- During the week of registration (April 28-May 2), we will have a RegLab on the first floor of the Student Center with staff and student workers helping you with the process of registration and the logistics of the New MyColumbia system.
- What is the timeline for the New MyColumbia?
- The first part of the new system will go live by the end of March, including the distribution of financial aid award letters. You will receive communications from the Financial Aid Office to guide you through navigating the system. When you go to my.colum.edu to look at your Financial Aid award letter, it will route you to view it in the new system.
- Beginning April 14, registration for the Summer session will occur as usual in the old system using the old interface, accessed via my.colum.edu.
- Beginning April 28, registration for the Fall semester will also begin at my.colum.edu, which will link you to the New MyColumbia interface just for Fall registration. Your specific registration date and time will be in an April 7th email from the Office of the Registrar titled SUMMER 2025 AND FALL 2025 REGISTRATION.
- Over the summer of 2025, we will fully transition all aspects of my,colum.edu to the New MyColumbia interface. The URL will remain the same (my.colum.edu), but the old portal will be fully replaced by the New MyColumbia interface.
- Finally, starting this Fall 2025, we will release a standalone mobile app for students as another option for accessing the New MyColumbia
- How will I access the New MyColumbia?
- The new portal will exist at the same address as always, my.colum.edu, which is best experienced on a computer but also has an improved mobile interface.
- Starting this Fall, you will also have access to a standalone mobile app as another option for accessing the New MyColumbia.
- What will Registration be like on the New MyColumbia?
- Planning: For the registration period that begins in April 2025 through this summer, you will still need to use the current degree audit system (uAchieve) to plan your schedule and confirm degree requirements.
- Summer Registration: Registration for Summer 2025 classes will take place on the old system beginning April 14
- Fall Registration: Registration for Fall 2025 classes will take place using the New MyColumbia interface beginning April 28.
- Planning: While you’ll be using the old Degree Audit (uAchieve) to plan your classes, you will use the New MyColumbia Registration portal with Advanced Search to build your schedule and register for classes.
- Registering: The New MyColumbia Registration portal has a user-friendly, calendar-like interface that allows you to build a weekly schedule in a virtual “shopping cart” in advance of your registration time slot. When it comes time to register, log back into the Portal and simply hit “Register Now.” If a class is full, you’re automatically added to the waitlist. Just like before, we encourage you to seek out alternative courses that are available without a waitlist and aligned with your plan.
- What will the Degree Audit look like on the New MyColumbia?
- This spring: This spring, you’ll still be using the old degree audit system, uAchieve, to plan your classes. uAchieve will still be available on my.colum.edu.
- Fall 2025: The new Degree Audit will become available when Fall semester begins and will allow you to build a four-year plan of both specific courses they want to take and general Core categories (to fulfill the 30 credit Core requirement). You will then use the Degree Audit to plan all of your semesters, while still being able to edit the plan during the registration window based on your preferences, specific section choices, and/or availabilities.
- The new Degree Audit will give Schools and programs better insight into student demand for courses, giving us an opportunity to plan ahead and better align our course offerings with forecasted student needs.
- Will you still supply four-year degree plans as PDFs?
- This spring: Yes. During the spring registration period for Fall 2025 classes, you will visit https://catalog.colum.edu to access both the new four-year degree plans (if you choose to move into one of those plans) and the existing degree plans in the archive (for students who might be graduating in December 2025 or May 2026, and want to stay in an older degree plan, for example).
- Fall 2025: Starting this fall, the new four-year degree plans will be available in a new degree-planning feature called Academic Planner in the New MyColumbia. This feature is currently still in development.
- What additional features and improvements are coming during Fall 2025?
- Increased self-service functionality for students (new features will be added throughout Summer and Fall 2025).
- Enhanced user interface (UI) that is mobile-friendly through an App (available during Fall 2025).
- Streamlined student registration and degree planning. The Degree Audit tool will be available within the New MyColumbia and replace uAchieve during the Fall 2025 semester.
- Who are the members of the SIS Implementation Steering Committee?
- Kathie Koch, Associate VP and Chief Information Officer
- Luke Schalewski, Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness
