The Group Excellence in Leadership Awards (ELAs) recognize students, faculty, and staff who have significantly contributed to improving the quality of student life and involvement during the past academic year at Columbia College.
Nominees will have demonstrated values for creativity, community engagement, leadership, stewardship, collaboration, to create a more engaged, connected, and inclusive community.
Community Award
This award recognizes a group that has come together to create programs, projects, or events that successfully displayed a sense of community and teamwork. This may be done through collaborations, community building, and any active efforts to create an open and welcoming space for all.
Event of the Year
This award recognizes the group that displayed the most successful event/program overall during the past year. The group is selected based on the overall uniqueness of the event/program and its technique, creativity, marketing, and implementation strategies.
Greatest Strides Award
This award recognizes the group that has demonstrated the greatest improvements over the past year. This group is selected based on their improvement in goal setting strategies, event success, leadership development of members, collaboration with other organizations, and overall contribution to the Columbia College Chicago community.
Marketing Campaign Award
This award recognizes the group that implemented the most effective marketing campaign. This group’s presence on campus was not only positive, but effective in engaging the community in their mission. This can include posters, flyers, social media, etc.
Professional Development Award
This award recognizes the group that produced and hosted activities designed to improve leadership skills, professionalism, career advancement, and overall professional growth. This can include hosting or facilitating conferences, networking events, workshops, seminars, etc.
Rookie of the Year
This award recognizes a new group that has achieved success through the careful planning and execution of programming/events, recruitment of members, building relationships with faculty, staff and departments, and creating a vibrant presence on campus.
Team of the Year
This award recognizes the most exceptional group under SAA over the past year. The team is selected based on their accomplishments, success, and leadership development of athletes, collaboration with other organizations, completion of responsibilities, and overall contribution to the Columbia College Chicago community.
Student Organization of the Year
This award recognizes the most exceptional student organization under SOC over the past year. The organization is selected based on their accomplishments, event success, and leadership development of members, collaboration with other organizations, completion of responsibilities, and overall contribution to the Columbia College Chicago community.
