Faculty-led Programs

How to Apply

Step 1 – Research your options

Review Columbia College Chicago’s Study Abroad website to find the programs, courses, and destinations you’re interested in pursuing.

Step 2 – Meet with Faculty Leader and/or Global Education

This may be optional, but it's always wise to discuss the program details with the faculty leader directly. Some faculty leaders require you to attend an information session or an informal sit down with them prior to reviewing your application. Global Education is always here to assist as well.

Step 3 – Apply

You’ll need to clear up all financial, registration, or academic holds to study abroad. Additionally, students must have a cumulative 2.50 GPA to apply and participate in their program of choice. Some programs may have additional requirements.

There are a limited number of spots in each faculty-led program. All applicants will write a brief 500-word application essay to further help the selection committee determine which students will participate in each program.

If You’re Accepted

Step 5 – Confirm acceptance

You must confirm your offer to study abroad in order to move into the next phase of the process.

Step 6 – Pay program deposit

Paying your program deposit officially secures a student's place in the program.

Step 7 – Complete post-acceptance materials

Global Education will collect additional information, such as passport photos, and travel itineraries where necessary.

Step 8 – Registration

Once cleared, you may register for the course associated with your faculty-led program. This is a Columbia College Chicago course, so everything else about it will be the same as any other course taken on campus.

Step 9 – Billing

Columbia Central will bill you for the special course fee, tuition (if applicable), and health insurance (if applicable) to your student account.
