Columbia College Chicago provides a comprehensive safety and security program designed to support a safe learning and working environment. Our 24-hour Security Command Center includes dispatching capabilities, a video-surveillance network, and an emergency-communications system staffed around the clock.
Our technical systems include:

• Alarm-system monitoring
• Emergency telephones located across campus
• Everbridge, our mass-notification system for voice, email, and text alerts

To complement our 24/7 campus security patrols, officers may use marked security vehicles, and bicycles. Most campus buildings have a lobby security station staffed by contracted security officers. Leased residential facilities are staffed by security personnel provided and managed by the individual property-management companies.

  Everbridge is Columbia’s emergency mass-notification system, used to inform the campus community about emergency situations, severe-weather closures, and other urgent updates. Students may receive text messages, phone calls, and/or emails when emergency information is issued. To ensure delivery, students must keep their emergency contact information up to date. Students can update contact information in MyColumbia by going to View All Cards, then scrolling down/searching for the Profile card.

  Columbia College Chicago has an after-hours SafeRide Program to help students and employees travel safely between campus locations and designated mass transit stations. The SafeRide Program is available seven days a week from 6 p.m.–1 a.m. during the Fall and Spring semesters. To request an escort, call (312) 369-SAFE.
